Not everything is spinning

Hey,

The last two weeks have been rough. Between health niggles, three kids, two working adults, my own boundaries and Clara’s tournament tennis, life started to feel like a rollercoaster. I knew I had climbed on, but was not sure when I got to get off.

I went back to the Circle of Life tool and looked across its 12 areas. It reminded me that not everything was spinning. Some things were difficult,
but others were steady and even going well.

That gave me room to breathe. I could turn down what needed less from me and park what I was not ready to solve. Parking something is not always avoidance. Sometimes it is saying, “I will deal with you when I am ready.”

And I will be. I might just need a minute.

Thank you for being here. I hope you have a really good week.

One thing to park…

This week, write down one thing that has been weighing on you and ask: does this need me today, or can I choose a better time to come back to it?

If it can wait, give it a real day and time. Parking something is not avoiding it. It is creating room for what needs you now, while trusting you will return to the rest when you are ready.

A moment from my week

This week reminded me why I love coaching. One of the women I work with came out of winter hibernation ready to put in the work. She practised, played, and we spent time together on the range and out on the course. Last week, she won her first tournament.

Our work on her swing and shot choices helped, but the win was hers. Repetition, effort and having fun gave her the confidence to let her game unfold.

I also bought the new LSKD breast cancer awareness sweatshirt. Both of my grandmothers were diagnosed, so the cause is close to my heart. Its message really stayed with me: “We rise by lifting others.”I believe that deeply. Supporting others can make us vulnerable, but I still believe it is the way forward.

What I’m exploring

This week I listened to How to Get Lucky, Solved from SOLVED with Mark Manson. It explores Sansai: Heaven Luck, what we are born into; Earth Luck, our environment; and Human Luck, our choices.

It arrived when I needed it. I cannot control or solve everything at once, but I can accept what is outside my hands, focus on what I can influence and leave the rest for another day.
