Hey,
The US Open has taken over our house, and Clara has decided tennis is her sport. Coming from an individual sport myself, I’m fascinated by what players do when things go wrong: slowing their breathing, returning to familiar routines and finding a way to reset.
These tools do not always work, but that is not really the point. The mental game is about having something to return to when things do not go well, and that feels true beyond sport too. We cannot control every moment, but we can choose how we meet the next one.
Thank you for being here. I hope you have a great two weeks.

What comes next?
If something goes wrong, try a small reset: take a slower breath, put your phone down, step outside or quietly ask yourself, “What comes next?”
You are not ignoring what happened, just giving yourself the chance to begin again.

A moment from my week
The rain has had other plans lately, with my coaching and Clara’s tennis training taking a back seat while the courses and courts recover.
It is a good reminder that performance is built in many places. Nutrition, fitness, recovery, mindset and reflection all support what happens when we step outside again. Sometimes the
weather nudges us towards the quieter work underneath.
What I’m exploring
This week I listened to Perimenopause, menopause & exercise, an episode of the period of the period. podcast with Dr Bella Smith and Baz Moffat.
I liked how simply they approach movement through this stage of life. It is not always about trying harder. Sometimes our bodies change, and the way we move, recover and support ourselves needs to change too.
